Eclipse, moon and meteorites (1887)

This highly detailed map, designed by the publisher Levi Walter Yaggy, was part of Yaggy’s Geographical Study - a collection of maps and diagrams on the Earth’s climates and peoples, created to assist teachers in geography and astronomy lessons. With its five movable parts and tinted gels, the map allowed viewers to observe celestial objects and phenomena through transparency. It illustrates the phases of the Moon, the seasonal positions of the Sun, and the stars visible from the Northern Hemisphere.
